Tree Walk at Lewis & Clark Exploratory Center at Darden Towe Park
October 27 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 am
Join Tree Stewards Kathy Nepote and Allen Ingling for a leisurely walk adjacent to the Lewis & Clark Exploratory Center with its historic replicas along sunny and shady gently sloping grassy and wooded areas. Ancient Osage Orange trees, historic Monticello Tulip Tree, common riparian buffer, deciduous and conifer trees and the ash tree devastation due to the emerald ash borer make this site unique in Charlottesville.
The walk will start at the Parking lot adjacent to the Dog Park in Darden Towe where members of the CATS Tree Steward Classes planted the trees over the last 2 years. From there we will walk down (relatively steep slope) to the Center and then along the Rivanna. Duration: 90 minutes to 2 hrs.
