On Saturday, June 17, Tree Steward Nancy Weiss led a group of 25 local residents on a tree walk on the trails at the future site of the McIntire Botanical Garden. Using leaves, bark, fruit and other tree features, she helped the group identify over 30 native Virginia tree species, including ash, mulberry and sycamore. Many more individuals registered for the walk than could be accommodated at this opportunity, but more walks at McIntire, other City Parks, and interesting tree sites across the area are planned for the future. These walks will be listed on our web site soon.
